The entrance to the park. Lovely running paths!
Abandoned tracks. Leeds has a rich coal mining history. Could these tracks be remnants of that?
The River Aire at the Weir. (The Kirkstall Abbey is directly behind me from this persective.)
Entrance to the Weir. Ghetto fabulous?
The Abbey ruins
I still can't believe that this is just steps away from my home...
the abandoned tracks are actually from a privately owned little tourist railway. Formerly that might have had some industrial use, but until a few years ago they were running small trains for people there for one £. I saw it runningin summer 2006.
ReplyDeleteCool, thanks for the info! Too bad they're not still running. That sounds like it would have been a fun way to explore the area.
ReplyDeleteFabulous views Sarah! You are so lucky to be there! Enjoy your time and recharge those batteries!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous abbey! I have visited Leeds and spent several weeks just north of the city near Harrogate. You are in a very beautiful part of the UK!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are lovely. You certainly know how to frame a shot!
